...to Tuggles Gap, Virginny

Day 3 - The Ride Home

Well, it's Sunday morn, and once again, I beat the roosters up…and that's an accomplishment in the country, eh. We all roll outta our rooms at various times, and end up at Tuggles Gap Restaurant next door for breakfast 'round 8:00. We had met a lady from Ireland earlier as she walked towards the restaurant. She was on a six-week tour of the U.S., and then off to Peru for a month, and then back here for 'nuther six weeks. Turns out she had already been on the road for I think eight months, and several other countries. I figured we mighta scared her off from her second visit to "The States" with our boisterous personalities, but she musta liked us 'cause, outta a half empty restaurant, she sat right beside us for breakfast. She was fun to chat with, and for some reason, seemed to enjoy our company. Mebbe she's a biker at heart.

Anyways, after breakfast, we all head off on our respective rides home. Just a few miles down the highway, we see Yank 'n Nancy…our friends from Buffalo…on the side of the road. I pull up beside 'em and ask if they're ok. Yank just grins as he retrieves a map, and says with a chuckle, "We're fine, TJ. Just a family dispute." I'm assumin it was just a difference of opinion on the route home, 'cause I know they got there ok.

Me 'n the missus…with Wes 'n Moonie in tow…jump over to US-11 S. for a nice ride home thru Americana for the most part. We did have to hit I-81 for a ways when US-11 merged with the interstate for a while. A funny story there tho. There we were, crusin down the interstate in the right lane, when this li'l white Mitsubishi passed us in the left lane. I glance over and see this dude all kicked back in the driver's seat. Something seemed, shall we say, different...so I did a double-take, and saw that he had a lap fulla blonde hair. He pulled over in the right lane in front of us for a ways before gettin off…pardon the pun…at an exit. Just before takin the exit, we see her head pop up...don't know if he was, ahem, finished...or just needed to downshift for the exit. hehehe Oh man, I crack myself up. hehe CK failed to find the humor in that one. She says I'm not nearly as funny as I think I am. She's probably right.

I guess that was our entertainment for the day. As soon as US-11 peeled off from the interstate again, we took the opportunity to exit our least desired mode of travel, the superslab, and continued our ramble thru the small towns of southern Virginny and east Tennessee. I won't bore ya with the details of the rest of the ride…as we took zero pics on this last day, and it was just yer average, uneventful ride home.

Until next time…keep the shiny side up, the rubber down, and yer arses 'tween the ditches.
